Stanley Greenwood Astin, born in 1919
Stanley Greenwood Astin, born in 1919, attended the Fielden School of Art in the late 1930’s. At the end of the 1938/1939 year, he was awarded the book below as a prize for the General Art Course (Senior, Second year)
Very soon after this, he was conscripted into the Army, serving for the full 6 years of WW2.
During this time, he obviously retained his interest and skills in Art, as in 1947 he painted a watercolour landscape, a panoramic view of Lumbutts and Mankinholes.
The painting and the information about Stanley were provided by his daughter Caroline Greenwood
