From Dilapidation to Re-opening 1992 to 2006
In March 2016 the central hall, storeroom and the meeting room above it were transferred into the care of the Calder Valley Community Land Trust to ensure that it would remain as a community asset for the future. These parts of the building continue to be managed by the Fielden Centre Association, a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.
On the 31st of October 2020 the Community Land Trust launched a community share offer to raise the money necessary to purchase the two houses which ‘bookend’ the hall and the land which it stands on. Despite the restrictions of the Covid 19 pandemic, this offer was a runaway success and a large number of people in Todmorden, and the surrounding areas, bought shares in Fielden Acre. Thanks to this action, the entire building and its grounds are now preserved for community use.
